We’ve previously written about outdoor parties, and it looks like March is shaping up to be an even cooler month to get out and have fun with these events. We’ve got a few for St Patrick’s Day, one electronic music and photography showcase and another featuring an exciting Thai and Mexican cuisine mash-up.
Juan Night in Bangkok (Mar 2)
Hombre Cantina and Bird Bird are joining forces for a one-night only with a special menu of honest-to-goodness street grub like ceviches, Thai green curry elotes, Thai roast chicken tacos, pork carinitias som tum tacos and fried wings with smoked chipotle sauce, all priced between $5-15. There’s also chilled tamarind margaritas going at $10, too. Free, 7pm.
Studio Lam takeover at Potato Head Folk (Mar 4)
The Studio Lam takeover at Potato Head Folk will involve Thai country beats, potent herbal ya dong shots and cocktails and lots of dancing. Sadly, there won’t be any visits from 1970s and 1980s molam legends or any back-up from the semi-electric Paradise Bangkok International Molam Band, but here’s hoping it’ll be at least half as fun. Free, 7pm.
Club Berlin: Electronic Music and Photography (Mar 4)
Photography gallery DECK is hosting Club Berlin, an exhibition about the ’90s electronic music scene from Mar 5-Apr 3 with the Goethe Institut, but we’re particularly excited about the opening night afterparty. The infamous bouncer of Berlin’s Berghain nightclub Sven Marquardt will be there, along with DJs like Debbie Chia and EJ Missy. $15-20, 6pm.
Atlantis Paradise Island (Mar 12)
The folks at Black White productions are organizing Atlantis Paradise Island again, with Asia’s top female DJ Leng Yein, TRIPL from Illinois, local DJ T-FRESH and more at the Sentosa Wavehouse. Ladies, register here to get in for free; and if you come early, there will be complimentary booze. $35-50 for men, 6-9pm.
St Patrick’s Day Street Festival (Mar 17-20)
Singapore River One is doing another St Patrick’s Day fest for the fourth consecutive year, with lots of Irish food, music, and even a parade. The Singapore Trad Collective, a band of local folk musicians, will also be making an appearance during the parade. Free.
St Patrick’s Pub Crawl (Mar 18, 19)
Singapore pub crawl is organizing two St Patrick’s pub crawls, with the one on Mar 18 being a walking one and the other on Mar 19 being a journey by bus. Like nearly every pub crawl they’ve done, there will be happy hour deals all night long, free entry to every club, and of course, you’ll be visiting three Irish bars along the way. $30-160, 7:30pm.
Garden Beats (Mar 19)
Lots of EDM musicians, DJs and the like will be making their way to Fort Canning Park for this festival. The line-up includes French DJ duo Faul & Wad and the breathy vocals of Jan Blomqvist. There’s also Lovra, who is known for her ’80s and ’90s inspired house tunes. DJs include Ce La Vi’s Brendon P, Zig Zach, Haan and KFC. Get your tickets here. $65-105, 1-10:30pm.
Rail Collidoscope presented by Noise x LushLovesLocal (Mar 19)
Sending off the Rail Corridor with a bang is this pop-up daytime party featuring DJs, live street art and food and drinks stalls. Details are still under wraps at the moment, but hey, this is your last chance to visit the area’s gritty green space before it gets all spruced up. Free, 12-6pm.
The Great Singapore Jerk-Off Part 2 (Mar 19)
Smoke up and sample some chicken marinated with two different traditional Jamaican jerk sauces at Red Baron, all part of a contest for the best tasting Jerk in Singapore. There’s also a rasta market by Flea Fly Flo Fun, all set to the reggae, ska, and dancehall tunes by DJs, Dub Skank’in Hifi, Me.Layan and Lavin. Order your chicken in advance to avoid disappointment. $3-12, 12pm.
