Here’s your last chance to visit the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station before it closes down for good

We’ve already bid adieu to the tracks that connected Singapore to Malaysia, now all that’s left is the long-standing Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. It’ll be closing its doors on Christmas Day all the way until 2025, when it’ll be reopened with parts of the old railway station integrated into the new MRT station. As a way to say goodbye to this place that holds memories for many Singaporeans, the Singapore Land Authority is hosting an open house to celebrate Christmas and to recreate what the station was like in its golden years.

The open house will feature a Christmas market with accompanying by jazz performances by NUS’s Capella group Resonance and Singaporean jazz artist Richard Jackson and his quartet. If you don’t know where to start, you can always hop onto the “train”, which will bring you on a tour of sorts around the national monument. Otherwise, have an intimate farewell with loved ones and friends by bringing your own food and laying out a mat along the old tracks for a nice evening picnic as you take it all in. Also, it’s the season of giving so bring along some books and toys you’d like to donate to the underprivileged at the Community Chest booth.
