Lunch @ Cocotte

The deal: Wanderlust Hotel’s casual French restaurant offers a weekday three-course set lunch (available 12 to 2:30pm); at $32 per person, you get three courses. The appetizer of poached egg and lardon salad is nicely cut with a sherry vinaigrette, but if you’re in the mood for something fancy, go for the garlicky escargot baked in cheese pastry with tomato coulis. For mains, even though the grilled mustard and tarragon chicken is very tender, the vegetarian-friendly dish of caramelized tomato tarte tatin (puff pastry and slow roasted tomatoes) is our favorite—a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The coffee flavored crème brulee is a clear winner, although sharing it would be wise since it’s quite rich.

Why it’s worth it: Why most set lunches are worth it: it’s much cheaper than going there for dinner. In the case of Cocotte, we also appreciate that you have a few more choices, unlike most other places where it’s either-or for all courses.
