The buzz: Singapore is finally getting a taste of the Banyan Tree’s tropical wellness touch with a new spa at Marina Bay Sands.
The vibe: Designed around the concept of the Tree of Life, this luxurious haven for relaxation evokes the ambiance of a bamboo garden, with twisted branches on the walls and grained parquet floors. There are 15 treatment rooms, two of which are huge Royal Double Spa Suites that overlook the gorgeous cityscape. You’ll want to step into one of these at least once in your lifetime—the kampong-style foot bath, a double rain-mist room and standing bathtubs barely take up half the space while the sunken ceilings look like they might just open up to the heavens. The staff here are also worth a mention—they’re genuinely friendly and welcoming, and have worked with Banyan Tree for a minimum of two years after training at the Banyan Tree Spa Academy—you couldn’t be in safer hands.
The goods: Try their signature therapy, the Royal Banyan ($510++ for 180 minutes), which features the Royal Banyan Herbal Pouch Massage, a Lemongrass & Cucumber scrub, as well as refreshments to round things off. The Harmony Banyan ($650++ for 180 minutes) is almost the same except it features the Orchid Scrub (to reflect Banyan Tree’s Singaporean roots) and the Therapeutic Orchid Bath.
Why you’ll be back: A spa that’s almost 200 meters high? This is probably the closest you’ll ever get to being on top of the world.
