Multiple F&B options for foodies, check. Groceries, check. Retail, beauty, wellness, and entertainment options, check. Foodies and shopaholics will love Singapore’s newest destination, Taste Orchard, a place that was formerly Orchard Point (and home to OG department store for 18 years).
Hao Corp, which operates Hao Mart supermarkets, has taken over the entire five-level space, which includes a supermarket, restaurants, and retail services.
Several spaces are now open and running. From Basement 1 to Level 2 is Eccellente by Hao Mart, a supermarket where locals and tourists alike can purchase groceries, international food items and household products. In particular, Basement 1 houses a “Best of Singapore” section featuring homegrown brands, local snacks, beverages, souvenirs and gift sets.
Hao Mart’s FYI (Famous. Yummy. Irresistible) Kitchen is the main attraction on Level 1. The Live Seafood station offers Alaskan king crab, lobsters, oysters, razor clams and more, while the Butchery counter features dry-ageing chillers touting meat cuts such as the Tomahawk and Porterhouse and a variety of over 40 different fresh meats cuts,). The Deli counter showcases an assortment of cheese and charcuterie to go with wine. A 30-seat dining area is available for diners to eat their selection of freshly cooked produce on site.
Check out BHC Chicken, South Korea’s largest fried chicken chain, on Level 1, as well as homegrown establishment Killiney Kopitiam and froyo brand Yole. In addition, there is the Wine Bar & Cellar run by Wine Mansion, which offers up to 20 wines by the glass (starting at $12). Try the signature rum and sake cocktail called, what else, Taste Orchard ($18).
Three local businesses – Le Matin, Casa Vostra and The Feather Blade – will open by end of March. Get ready for Le Matin’s Seafood Symphony Sub ($24.90) with crab and avocado croissant sandwich, Casa Vostra’s truffle mushroom pizza ($25.90), and The Feather Blade’s steak ($24).
Level 2 features a Chef Community space that is expected to launch by the end of June, and will host cooking classes and events for home cooks and local chefs.
Also coming to Taste Orchard is the second outlet of Warabimochi Kamakura. It is most known for its dessert drinks topped with warabimochi, which are just as delicious on their own ($3.90 for two pieces). Instead of glutinous rice flour, the brand uses bracken root starch for its melt-in-the-mouth mochis coated with soybean powder and drizzled with Okinawan black sugar syrup.
In the pipeline are familiar Japanese restaurants, such as Sushiro, Chirashi King Kong and Kebuke (meaning “Are you thirsty?”) Tea Co., known for its Signature Black Tea Latte and Honey Rice Oolong Tea with A Whole Lemon.
Taste Orchard also offers services from Raylite Optical optometrist, tuition centre ASE Learning, aesthetic medical clinic and nail salon, and Chun K, a family- friendly karaoke chain from China.
