Can you programme perfect curls? Dyson’s connected Airwrap i.d. aims to do just that

We’ve got all sorts of connected devices – from fridges to TVs to smartwatches. Now even your hair styler gets in on the action.

Keywords for the Dyson’s latest hairstyling tool, the Airwrap i.d., are personalisation and connectivity. It’s a connected multi-styler and dryer that is said to be able to programme perfect curls every time, with a push of a button.

This means you can create personalised curling sequences on the MyDyson app, before applying it to your Airwrap i.d. barrels – then your tresses – via Bluetooth connectivity. Called  i.d. curl, users input their hair profile to include hair type, hair length and skill level, and a perfect curling routine will be recommended.

With one push of the power button, i.d. curl will activate three steps for perfect, consistent curls. It will wrap, style, and set to make curling foolproof. Heat and airflow are intuitively controlled based on the user’s styling preferences.

The new Airwrap also comes with three new attachments: The Conical barrel to create tighter and more defined curls near the root of your hair; the Wave+Curl diffuser to disperse airflow and make better waves, curls and coils; and the Blade concentrator for more precise airflow when locking in smoother, aligned hair. This brings the total number of attachments for the Airwrap to 19.

New hairstyling products
Not satisfied with the digital upgrade, the lifestyle tech giant takes your haircare and styling game to the next level with its first-ever wet-styling product, the Dyson Chitosan formulations range.

The chitosan in its name refers to its star ingredient in the hair products, a complex macromolecule found in the cell walls of oyster mushrooms that’s said to give the springy fungi its shape. This results in its flexible all-day hold regardless of hairstyle or Singapore’s humidity.

There’s a pre-style serum stuffed with conditioning agents to prevent frizzy hair while protecting your locks’ natural sheen, along with high-performing silicones and oils to keep your hair smooth and shiny; as well as a post-style serum that works to hydrate, protect and repair your hair.

Both the pre- and post-styling creams are delivered from refillable bottles that have been engineered to dispense an exact dose of 0.22ml every time, thereby preventing overuse and waste. In line with that ethos, refill cartridges are recyclable at home as well.
