After the MoonSwatch frenzy in 2022, Swatch is once again getting the watch world all excited with the Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection. (The MoonSwatch was a colourful collaboration with Omega, featuring 11 wallet-friendly quartz models based on the iconic Speedmaster watch.)

The collection comprises five mechanical watches that celebrate Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms, reproducing all the hallmarks of the Swiss watchmaking icon while referencing Swatch’s diving watch line, the Scuba.

Created 70 years ago, Fifty Fathoms revolutionised watchmaking by becoming the first true diver’s watch, a timepiece that successfully met all the needs of underwater exploration.

All watches from the Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection feature a 42.3mm case and uni-direction bezel fashioned with Swatch’s eco-friendly Bioceramic compound. Water-resistant up to 91m, it houses Swatch’s Sistem51 mechanical automatic movement that comprises 51 components and a Nivachron anti-magnetic balance spring.

Each timepiece celebrates one of the five oceans and the colourful animals known as nudibranchs that dwell in their depths.
Models include the Arctic Ocean (orange-red); Pacific Ocean (yellow/black); Atlantic Ocean (blue); Indian Ocean (green); and Antarctic Ocean (grey). Each watch comes with a NATO strap created from recycled fishing nets, a transparent display back, and illustration of nudibranchs found in each of the five oceans. These animals are featured in a digital print on the movement’s rotor which allows the watch to recharge automatically with a simple movement of the wrist.
The Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection is set to drop on Sep 9 at selected Swatch stores (one watch per person per store and day). This is a “non-limited” collection which means you should be able to get your hands on one without paying exorbitant prices from resellers. It is available at a much affordable price tag of $565 each, instead of the five-figure sum of the Fifty Fathoms.
