It sounds almost too good to be true to be able to create restaurant-quality home-cooked meals in less than 30 minutes. 

But thanks to Smeg’s Galileo line of ovens, this is entirely possible. 

The Galileo, a Made in Italy project inspired by the father of modern science Galileo Galilei, is designed to be “a game changer in how the modern family cooks”. All ovens have innovative features such as a redesigned heating system, professional algorithms and a whole suite of smart cooking tools.

Spearheading the line is the Omnichef range which highlights the brand’s multi-cooking technology that combines traditional, steam and microwave cooking. 

This means mastering multi-stage recipes is a breeze. Different cooking methods can be programmed and triggered to operate one after another or simultaneously without the need to reset temperature and duration parameters.

The combination of these cooking modes also help reduce preparation, cooking and clean-up time by up to 70 percent – and achieve quality meals fuss-free.

Other ranges in the line include Steam and Speedwave X ovens. The former combines traditional cooking with the benefits of variable dispensing steam, while the latter combines traditional cooking with the benefits of microwaves.

Ideal for busy urbanites

To prove how easy and efficient cooking can be with the ovens, the brand invited Italian chef Matteo Pertoldi of Atipico to whip up several dishes such as baked pasta, roast chicken, lobster and laksa risotto, and steamed eggs on the spot in its newly opened experiential showroom at Marina One.

The baked pasta dish was made simply by tossing dried pasta, tomato sauce, a variety of cheese and spinach into one casserole dish and cooking it for 27 minutes (utilising the three cooking modes) in the Omnichef oven. It came out al dente with a golden-brown crust.

The roast chicken, marinated with spices and olive oil, was a pleasant surprise as the fork-tender meat emerged moist and wonderfully juicy.
