A Tron-inspired bike at the entrance, neon-lit rooms decked out with cutting-edge karaoke sets and audio systems, a convenient location in the heart of Orchard and a stunning, very Instagrammable shiny space-inspired look – the newly opened Zplus KTV has it all.
The newest entertainment venue and hangout spot to hit Orchard has opened its doors (with the official opening on Sep 14,) where it will bring to bear an impressive arsenal of 17 private rooms kitted out with immersive audiovisual systems.
Think Swiss-designed lighting fixtures that blink and dance along with the high-fidelity sound produced by custom-built German audio systems, and supersized high-definition screens reaching up to 225 inches across in the most luxe of rooms. One of them even has a pool table.
Every group size from an intimate quartet to a grand fete of 48 can be catered for here, so long as they are willing to let their hair down and party the night away in a karaoke lounge deliberately designed to evoke futuristic, space-centric vibes.
The experience
SG Magazine had the opportunity to sing our hearts out, and it was a blast. Plush comfy seating, adjustable lights and a huge screen greeted our karaoke-obsessed group of 10. The room we were in was perfect for our group size – not too cramp with room to move around. There were three mics, including a standing one which one enthusiastic member promptly used to channel her inner diva.
Songs are selected through an iPad which was unfortunately attached to a short wire. This means we could not pass the iPad around for everyone to choose their own songs, and we had to either change seats or help others input the requested songs. The navigation took a bit getting used to, but a quick run-through by a Zplus staff made it easier. As for the songs themselves, Chinese tunes were aplenty but some English ones were limited (Ariana Grande only had two songs).
All that singing can leave you thirsty and hungry. Luckily, there is the menu that includes finger food, steak, a selection of spirits like Martell Noblige as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
As an added bonus, Zplus will be offering a grand promotion of just $1 per person per hour from the grand opening on Sep 14 until Sep 30, available daily except for Fridays and Saturdays. So warm up your singing voice and get ready to make some noise!
