Only two Singapore hotels are on the recently announced list of World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 – Raffles Singapore at No.6 and Capella Singapore at No.33.
The results were revealed at an awards ceremony held on Sep 17 at London’s Guildhall. This second edition celebrates and spotlights hotels from all over the world that showcase memorable and outstanding hospitality experiences.
Raffles Singapore actually jumped 11 spots from last year’s inaugural list, an achievement that has left the hotel “honoured and humbled”. Christian Westbeld, managing director of Raffles Singapore says, “This prestigious accolade reflects the collective spirit from our marvellous team to consistently deliver this distinctive Raffles Experience.”
Capella Hotels and Resorts also has much to celebrate. Capella Bangkok in Thailand has been named The World’s Best Hotel 2024. It climbed 10 places from No.11 in the 2023 list to clinch the top spot. It has also been named The Best Hotel in Asia 2024. Opened in 2020 overlooking the majestic Chao Phraya River, the contemporary hotel is surrounded by lush gardens and exudes the elegance of a grand dame property with the intimacy of a boutique hotel. The dramatic, layered architecture ensures all 101 rooms face the water, while riverside villas and suites also include their own private pool.
Capella Singapore, located within 30-acres of lush rainforest on Sentosa island, is at No.33. “To have one hotel maintain its position on such a prestigious list is remarkable; to have two do so, with one claiming the top spot globally and in Asia, is simply exceptional. This is particularly significant given the fierce competition in the luxury hotel sector and the constant evolution of guest expectations,” says Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group.
The list features hotels from 37 destinations across six continents worldwide. Asia leads the way with 19 properties, followed by Europe, North America, Africa, Oceania and South America.
As The World’s 50 Best Hotels returns for its second year, three new awards are announced. Atlantis The Royal in Dubai picks up the Highest Climber Award, moving 35 positions from No.44 to No.9. Raffles London at The OWO (No.13) receives the Lavazza Highest New Entry Award 2024, and Aman wins the Ferrari Trento Most Admired Hotel Group.
