Objectifs is doing an all-female film and photography show next month

We always love the shows at Objectifs (and their new space in the old yellow church on Middle Road isn’t bad either), but we’re especially excited about what they have in store next month.

The Women in Film & Photography Showcase happening from Oct 22 to Nov 29—the event, comprising a photography exhibition and film screening, touches on diverse issues like loneliness, gender stereotyping, culture and identity. This year’s edition features emerging photographers such as Liu Ying (Singapore), Lara Tabet (Lebanon) and Nafise Motlaq (Iran) taking on human portraiture, some with surreal elements bordering on absurdity.

On the film front, watch out for highlights like Megane by director Naoko Ogigami, winner of the Manfred Salzberger Award at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival, a comedy about the encounters of a university professor with eccentric locals on an unnamed Japanese island and Singapore Panda by Sun Koh, which portrays themes of immigration, Chinese diaspora and the modern globalization of Singapore.
