The brainchild of Proof & Company in collaboration with the luxury hotel Mandarin Oriental stands in the place of the former Axis Bar and Lounge—now with bespoke contemporary interiors inspired by the Pacific Ocean. The hand-carved wooden sculptures and hand-woven tapestries too are a bold slant away from the minimalist bars most are used to.
For those who want some quiet me-time, have your drink at the bar counter and watch mixologists in action as you unwind. At MO Bar, the menu is a thoughtful curation of drinks inspired by a trail across Southeast Asian countries. Drinks are infused with heritage-inspired and tropical touches with apropos names to boot—such as the Coconut Beaches of Fiji containing carbonated coconut cream; Mother of Dragons, with strawberry aloe vera, dragon fruit juice and cachaca; and Twilight by the Bay with fermented mangosteen and cinnamon rum. Apart from mouthwatering cocktail concoctions, there is also a selection of mocktails, beers and wine. For something special, try MO Bar’s very own Pilsner developed with local craft brewery, Archipelago. And for eats, bar snackage includes gourmet bites like prawns with Masala Mayo and an avocado dessert, filled with avocado mousse and gula melaka ice cream.
If you’re more of a tea and teacakes person, the bar also offers afternoon tea sets everyday, with a choice of two seatings on weekends and public holidays.
