Court Martial Bar

The Court Martial Bar is one of three concept bars housed in the glam JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach and gets its name from the historical background of the building. It is a specialty cocktail bar with homemade infusions and a range of “barrel-aged classics”. The surrounding walls of this watering hole are covered with red, velvety curtains while the counter in the middle comes with sleek, high metal chairs to match the cool, luxurious decor.

The bar is helmed by Navin Raj, who has held relevant positions in other hotel groups and is a Wine Ambassador Champion at JW Marriott Hotel, leading a team of wine ambassadors under the stringent program. But what’s interesting is that he ages the “barrel-aged” cocktails in American oak barrels right behind the bar. The drinks menu is broken down into three different categories, with signatures like the Heritage Sling ($22), their take on the classic Singapore Sling, and South Beach Sour ($25), a reinterpretation of a whisky sour with a local spin; and reinvented classics like the Bloody Maria ($18) and French 75 ($20) and tipples with spirits that have been rested in American Oak Barrels between two-four weeks, like the Negroni, a mix of sweet vermouth infused raisins and the classic recipe; and Rum Ol’ Fashioned, Navin’s own take on the classic barley syrup (both $23).

They also offer some bar bites like the high-class Wagyu Beef Satay with peanut sauce, cucumber and pineapple ($45), signature teriyaki glazed organic chicken thigh with roasted sesame ($22) and fried coconut-crusted prawns with plum tomato and onion sambal ($30).
