The Buzz: This rooftop watering hole has landed on the … erm … roof of the Fullerton Boathouse.
The Vibe: Brought to us by the same crew as the erstwhile Bukit Timah speakeasy Nickeldime, Prelude (an apt name indeed) is just the spot for pre-party drinks or a quiet night out. The non-descript roof deck is exactly what makes it so attractive. Chilled-out imbibers seek out this space (sleek Miura stools from Konstantin Grcic, canvas deck chairs), to escape the madness below. Come nightfall, it morphs into a seductive venue where you can come togged in your latest Louis Vuitton resort threads while taking in breathtaking views of Marina Bay. For a romantic night out, be sure to get there early to snag a cozy nook.
The Drinks: Cool summer cocktails for breezy balmy weather are the order of the day here. Mojitos like the Lychee Mojito are given the Prelude twist here, thanks to its cocktail-loving owners who just love tinkering with their drinks. We also like the Melon Spice Martini, melon-infused vodka topped with a dash of Tabasco and the gin, and the mint and organic honey combo Bees Knees. Prelude is also the only place we know that imports Japanese craft beer Baird Brewing.
The Food: Prelude is also part of the modern European gastro Boathouse downstairs and the pub grub where is a fine marriage of pub and gastro treats like the truffled prawns, pan seared Hokkaido scallops and beef sliders.
The Crowd: It’s usually a cool mix of locals and travelers which makes for a diverse and thirsty crowd.
Why you’ll be back: It feels like you’re on top of the world.
