Señor Taco (Clarke Quay)

Señor Taco has recently revamped its Clarke Quay outlet, sporting over 120 seats, with both indoor and alfresco areas. It looks every bit like a classic Mexican cantina.

The new menu features specialties from various Mexican regions. Tuck into delicious, piping-hot tacos, fresh from the stove, such as Al Pastor ($6)— a combination of marinated meat, onion, pineapple and cilantro—or the bestselling Baja ($8) that contains beer-battered fish and red and white cabbage, topped with a chipotle-mayo sauce. The guacamole ($13), a Mexican staple, is also superb—thick and creamy, without being cloying. End your meal with the Ice Cream Taco ($6)—the juxtaposition of hot and cold, with sweet and savory, left us craving for more.

The drinks on offer aren’t too shabby either. Those with a high alcohol tolerance should sample the signature Corona-rita ($24), combining two of Mexico’s best exports, the margarita and Corona beer. There’s also a wide range of tequilas and traditional cocktails to be had.

Despite the influx of Mexican joints around town lately, Señor Taco is a great choice for unpretentious Mexican comfort food, especially after a night of partying by the river.
