Buzz: Taking over the sprawling two-story Supperclub at Odeon Towers is no easy feat. The club had suffered a string of bad publicity, from poor service to an erratic management team; surprising pundits who saw it garnering positive responses in its heyday. Post-Supperclub, a new management team—Black and White Lifestyle Group led by Bryan Lee—has stepped in to redefine and rebrand this potentially high-valued club space. And possibly, to give it a new lease of life with some soul.Décor: The white walls that proved to be a double edged sword for Supperclub have remained intact. Supperclub was deemed too “bright” for a dance club; clubs usually choose a darker shade for their walls so lighting and laser work can be easily managed to create a more vivid effect. SOUL has, however, capitalized on the whiteness to create a visual spectacle. They’ve roped in Chris Sifton from Oracle Projects (the brainchild behind the Fountain of Wealth’s visual display and Singtel AMPed 360degrees Oracle Dome Projections) to create what might just be Singapore’s first ever club with a panoramic 3D visual projection. With state-of-the-art visual and audio on offer, you’re in for a unique clubbing experience. For those looking to go absolutely mental on the dance floor, SOUL boasts a sizeable space coupled with a terrace for members and VIPs upstairs dubbed SOUL club. Loungers can expect a spacious dedicated chill-out room, SOUL Lounge, on the first floor to “fill up the tank” before merrymaking on the dance floor.Food & Drinks: Nothing fancy, but we love its happy hour from 5pm-9pm with 50 percent off house pours, cocktails and beers.Music: Highly acclaimed DJ/producer Myon & Shane 54 called him Singapore’s best kept secret; we on the other hand know him as one of the most notable trance DJs on the island, Effen. Helming the residency of SOUL, expect the stalwart to drop all variations of trance and progressive house, from atmospheric soundscapes to more techy and throbbing basslines.Crowd: Partygoers looking for a night of liver damage and unadulterated dance floor mayhem. A formula that rarely fails to deliver a good night. Why you’ll be back: Because you won’t find visual stimulation like this anywhere else.
