Ta.Ke

The Buzz: Following the success of its uppity bespoke cocktail bar, the people who gave us Klee and Timbre show us why we should drink more cocktails. Klee, one of the bars that we’ve raved incessantly about has spawned a new sibling at the spanking new Studio M Hotel, a new boutique hotel on Robertson Quay. The decor: Sleek, chic, and definitely on the cards to be the next oasis of cool, the curiously named Ta.Ke (Japanese for bamboo and pronounced as “tah-kay”) get points for its intimate vibe and the fact that it’s perched over the pool. A bulbous fiberglass cloud looms over the bar, while bar furniture and loungers are peppered around the main bar area from which to perch while you sip your drink. Bamboo planters offer a veneer of privacy. The drinks: It’s not a place for posing. Rather, this is a haven for those who care about their drinks and appreciate a superior cocktail. Notable drinks include Studio M Swizzle, a refreshing Tanqueray gin-based cocktail mixed with mint, simple syrup and a Ron Zacapa rum mist, their homemade sangria and the pineapple and rosemary martini. The music: Easy-listening jazz tunes on a bossa nova tip.The crowd: Hotel guests and walk-in locals.
