Located in a recently refurbished warehouse on the quieter side of Robertson Quay, this is an oenophile’s dream. Verre has over 750 labels represented in its walk-in cellar with Bordeaux and Burgundy wines as the stars—bottles which come from small, family-owned vineyards which produce wines that are as distinctive as they are sought after.
Perhaps the best thing about Verre is the way it makes these wines accessible to the average drinker. Sure, there are bottles that cost in excess of $3,000, but some labels are available from $59. They’ve also got a rotating wine-by-the-glass list that allows you to experience new wines every time.
The food here brings to mind afternoons spent touring wine country—steak tartare ($18), chicken liver parfait ($24) and artisanal cheese platter ($25).
