Have fun, dine well and support your favourite businesses

We get it—with all the changing rules and regulations in place, it can be difficult to feel patriotic even as National Day rolls around. In fact, the annual National Day Parade has been postponed to Aug 21 too, due to the large number of active Covid-19 cases and clusters in Singapore.

But if anything, locals can take heart knowing that our favourite businesses are here for us. They are rolling out collaborations, special menus and simply ideating so we may all get through these tough times together.

So be sure to support them in whatever ways you can. We’ll get through this together. Oh, and happy birthday, Singapore.

National Day cocktails by GudSht

Our buds over at bottled cocktail label GudSht is back with not one, not two, but four new limited edition cocktails in celebration of National Day 2021. Look out for exclusives like the Lepak Ah, Shiok Sia, Steady Lah and Swee Boh—inspired by all things Singaporean. We recommend trying the Steady Lah for a citrusy beverage, or the Shiok Sia for a mix of chrysanthemum tea and vodka. Yum.

New kopitiam flavours by Creamier and Kim Guan Guan

You can count on local ice cream parlour Creamier to innovate enticing flavours, especially with National Day just around the corner. This year, check out their collaboration with Kim Guan Guan, which commemorates the quintessential Singaporean breakfast drinks of kopi and teh. Just try the Kopi-Peng which features Kim Guan Guan’s traditional, locally roasted coffee powder, as well as the finest Kenyan tea dust with the Teh-Peng. The returning Kaya Toast is not to be missed either; that presents a light yet creamy ice cream boasting the flavour of fresh pandan and buttered toast, as well as a hint of caramelised coconut milk.

All three flavours are available for takeaway and delivery; better yet, complete your at-home ice cream experience with Creamier’s signature golden waffles.

Singaporean Breakfast cheesecake by Cat & The Fiddle

Cat & The Fiddle’s new locally-inspired cheesecake is an homage to our quintessential Singaporean drink: kopi-o. Caffeine fiends, tuck into this rich and velvety smooth cream cheese cake boasting the robust flavour of coffee thanks to the use of locally-sourced nanyang coffee powder. But don’t be alarmed by its bold hue—this is simply created through the addition of charcoal powder to mirror the toasty shade of coffee bean. The halal-certified Singaporean Breakfast cheesecake is definitely the perfect dessert to commemorate our nation’s birthday while celebrating heritage.
