Booking a Mother’s Day meal can be a tough feat to pull off when there are just that many options to pick from; every restaurant in town tries to score points with Mum this time each year. But what does Mother Dearest really want—to be spoiled rotten? An "anything also can lah" family meal? We’ve narrowed it down to 10 restaurants, sorted by category, for your easy reference.
Brunch for Mum's inner tai tai
Only the finest for the most important woman in our life, so don't hold back on pandering to her inner luxury-seeker.
Skai takes brunch to an all-new high on May 12, when a decadent brunch set of two or three courses hits the kitchen 70 floors above ground. The set priced at $118 per person includes dishes of cucumber with pomelo and toasted seeds, and asparagus with Iberico ham and ponzu. Entrees go along the lines of lamb loins with smoked eggplant, broccoli and tosaka, or refreshing buckwheat noodles with black cabbage, truffle and sesame. The choice is yours—or Mum's.
Courtyard by Marriott honours Mum on her big day with a delightful brunch feast against a panoramic view of the cityscape, signature to Sky22. Begin the feast at the Seafood-on-Ice counter of resh crustaceans, and work your way to the main buffet spread that hosts a plethora of Western favourites like Braised Lamb Shanks with Shallots and Gremolata, Slow-roasted Sirloin with Port Wine Sauce and BBQ Pork Ribs in Bourbon Sauce. There's also classic Asian fare such as the signature Singaporean Chilli Crab with Man Tou Bun, Beef Rendang, Sambal Prawns with Kaffir Lime and Penang Laksa; but the real tai tai treatment comes in at the dessert table—a heaving spread of cakes and confections ranging from Victoria Sponge to Durian Cheesecake. The all-in affair is tagged at $78 per person, with optional top-up of $38 for free-flow alcohol.
Take the queen out of the house for a brunch worthy of the tai tai life she deserves. At W Singapore, $228 entitles you to a spread fit for a Queen, inclusive of endless bubbly, wines and cocktails. The premium brunch, titled Mother of a Brunch, boasts raw and charcuterie bars with impressive assemblages of crustacean and stunning meats respectively. Fill up on oysters, sashimi and Foie Gras Terrine amongst other classics, but save room for the grilled and carvery sections offering the most premium cuts of meat. Exclusive to mothers joining the brunch service, complimentary manicure sessions are free for every mum dining with the kitchen table, so you know the gift portion of Mother’s Day is sorted.
An all-rounder treat for Mum
Every mum loves receiving gifts, even if she vehemently protests against it. Shower her with material love with these all-in-one packages.
Switch it up with a Japanese omakase set by Tokyo-based head chef Shigeru Kasjima. The $180 set dinner is an 8-course meal available on May 12, and explores the sumptuous Nagasaki beef in dishes like the Nagasaki Beef Zabuton Steak and Sumiyaki Nagasaki Beef Chateaubriand. After dinner, mums will be able to unwind with a complimentary 60 Mins Siberian Ginseng Massage at LifeSPA and bring along an accompanying guest for just $28.
Lunches and Dinners at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel are lavish international buffet spreads tagged at $88 for home-cooked signatures like braised pork trotters with yam & chestnut. Alternatively, head on over to the hotel's Southern Italian restaurant Grissini, where premium meats & seafood are prepared in a unique oven which combines a grill and oven in one, along with pastas, pizzas & classic favourites with a twist.
But why stop at a meal? The Grand Copthorne rolls out their premier Mother’s Day plans that goes beyond wining and dining. Give your mom (and the entire family) a day off with the Holiday Family Staycation package, encompassing a stay at the Grand Copthrone Waterfront that begins with a breakfast feast and a half-day guided tour to Tiong Bahru on Saturday (points for being innovative right?) Available every weekend throughout the months of May and June at $238, this promotion covers Father’s Day as well, in case one staycation wasn’t enough for the family.
Leave Dad behind and set Mum up on a date with local celebrity chef Heman Tan (who also goes by Iron Man Chef), who'll be whipping up welcoming favourites on May 12 such as the Ayam Buah Keluak and Teochew Orh Nee with Pumpkin and Gingko Nuts. Chef Heman will be hosting an exclusive cooking demonstration and autograph session, perfect for fans of the chief chef helming the Soup Restaurant Group. For dinner, the menu spans fresh seafood, western specials, local delights and of course, dessert, all of which goes for $88 per adult. Remind Mum to pick up her complimentary bag of durian cookies on the way out.
A titillating food adventure awaits in the heart of the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ The Villa. Lunch has never looked so luxurious than when surrounded by the lush foliage of the garden. The buffet consists of a resplendent spread of signature European fare with Asian twists to give it its quirky edge, such as the Chilli Crab Spaghettini. In addition to the buffet, the first 50 mums will be able to create their own floral bouquets to bring home.
A meal for the whole family
For the mum who just wants everyone to be together on her special day, these communal dining-friendly restaurants are the place to go.
The Mother’s Day brunch affair at Fat Chap is one that’s heavier on the communal dining. At $68 per person, you'll experience a live cooking demonstration led by Medanese Head Chef Selamat Susanto, followed by Kembul Bujana, a communal dining spread with a traditional platter of Nasi Tumpeng—an Indonesian dish of coconut scented butterfly pea rice, roasted kampong chicken, grilled whole fish, tempeh, perkedel (potato cakes) and sambal prawns. To wrap things up, Es Kopyor is served, a refreshing dessert of fresh coconut and rose syrup on shaved ice.
Lime Restaurant treats more than just the taste buds when you dine in this Mother’s Day. With live kitchens in front of the dining area, witness the preparation of your food by the skilled chefs. Highlights include the Roasted Beef Tomahawk, Caramelised Foie Gras served with Cherry Morello and Ginger Crumble and Baked Half Shell Oyster with Sweet and Sour Hollandaise Sauce that’s sure to delight mums with an appetite for Western cuisine. An array of Asian dishes await too, with headliners like the Lime signature Lobster Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Black Pepper Crab gracing the fare. On top of that, enjoy a complimentary Double-boiled Bird’s Nest Soup, and a personalised greeting card with a polaroid of the family for a fun keepsake. The price tag starts at $98 for unlimited servings of chilled juices, soft drinks, specialty coffee and tea.
The local bistro franchise keeps it simple with an attractive promo that celebrates our super-mums—one main course free when four adults dine between May 11-12. Enjoy light dishes that are comfortingly flavourful, yet not overwhelming, such as the Lobster Barley Risotto ($34), Truffle Beef Burger ($25) and Seared Scallop and Prawn Linguine ($26). Affordable but still does the trick.
