The new Wanderwine has wines handpicked by local sommeliers like Gerald Lu, Singapore’s Sommelier 2010; Fazil Mohammad, World Gourmet Summit Sommelier of the Year 2015; and Stephanie Rigourd, a specialist in boutique wineries. The cellar categorizes wines by type, country, grape varietal and price, but also has handy tasting notes and food pairing recommendations. Expect an ever-changing list of bottles (from $31) like Two Hands Bella’s Garden Shiraz 2012 ($89) and Cava Brut Reserva Agusti Torello Mata ($45), an elegant Spanish bubbly. On the other hand, Nuevo Vino is a nifty website for mood-based drinkers rather than semi-experts. While you can select bottles by wine type, there are also options for the type of occasion (just for a quiet night? Or a night with the boys?), as well as primary tasting notes like cocoa, spice, wood, tropical and floral. Their selection is more affordable than Wanderwine, though still serious, including a large range of French, Spanish and Italian wines starting at $24 for a bottle of Amatista Frizzante Moscato, and also has an interesting selection of Turkish, Greek and Lithuanian spirits like raki, ouzo and vodka. Best part: they deliver free, and there’s no minimum order.
