It seems like June’s a foodie month, what with a slew of interesting dining events from pop-up dinners, food festivals to one-night only fine dining guest shifts taking place across the city. So reserve some stomach room (and save your wallets) for these must-do events.
Beerfest Asia (Jun 12-15)
Need we say more? Before you embark on a suds-filled debauchery, read our survival guide. Go easy on the booze so you’ll still be sober enough for workshops and live acts.
Taste of Norway (Jun 19)
Bacchanalia Executive Chef Ivan Brehm collaborates with his former The Fat Duck colleague, Markus Dybwad to create seven-course menu using the best ingredients Norway has to offer at this one-night only dinner.
WOLF Wine Dinner (Jun 19)
Pork’s the order of the day. In nose-to-tail style, the meat is incorporated into three out of the four-course dinner with dishes like prosciutto & pear salad, spicy pork sausage pate and pork saltimbocca. Wines from Italian label Cantine Riondo will make an appearance.
Lis Neris Wine Dinner (Jun 24)
Federica Pecorari of Italian winemaker Lis Neris takes you through the tasting notes of wines selected for this special four-course meal, which includes dishes like homemade pasta with mud crab, cherry tomatoes, white wine & chill, as well as razor clams salad with avocado and heart of palm.
STORIES: A Pop Up Restaurant (Jun 26-29)
This series of thematic dining events, set to take place in venues like the defunct Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, is jointly organized by My Private Chef and the Singapore Tourism Board. With heritage and food as the defining elements, expect local creations with refreshing twists delivered by Chef Stephan Zoisl, who has worked at Michelin star restaurants worldwide.
Nomine Renard Champagne Dinner (Jun 30)
Champagne fans, you’re in luck. Family-run vineyard Nomine Renard pairs its sophisticated bubblies with this modern European-meets-Asian five-course dinner that features dishes like sashimi of kingfish, ginger, eschalots and feta and Portuguese baby chicken with chorizo, olives, chillis and char-grilled corn.
Diner en Blanc (Jul 5)
The annual all-white, chi-chi mass picnic is happening next month, but if you’re one bit interested in attending, you should sign up now. This year, they’ve got an extra romantic shebang going: each guest can write lovey-dovey notes to put in a champagne bottle, which is then released into the waters in true poetic fashion. The best note will win a $1,000 prize from champagne sponsor Perrier-Jouet. Phase Three registration has opened up for those who did not attend last year or didn’t have a sponsored table from a friend who attended previous editions.
