Fans of Hello Kitty, cartoon bento boxes and everything twee—Pompompurin, the portly Sanrio golden retriever, is launching its first cafe in Southeast Asia at Orchard Central on Apr 18.
This 1,900 sq ft garden-themed bistro is, of course, kawaii-personified. Interiors, food and drinks feature the benign portrait of the yellow, beady-eyed canine and diners can splash more cash on Pompompurin merchandise at the cafe’s retail space. And if you’re really here for the food, the menu offers mainly hearty Western classics, like beef stroganoff ($18.99), mushroom and bacon cabonara ($26.99) and banana caramel pancakes ($16.99).
For no-brainer cafe fare, the prices can seem slightly costly. But hey, you’ll probably be walking away with plenty of fuel for Instagram.
