Restaurants in Singapore are stepping it up in terms of creating fascinating new experiences for guests, something especially welcome these days, given our pent up need for travel.
Turning heads and gaining plenty of attention recently is Aqua Gastronomy, a pop-up dining experience by Resorts World Sentosa that makes full use of their centrepiece attraction at the S.E.A. Aquarium, the Open Ocean Habitat.
It’s the section of the attraction that you often see on your social media feeds—you know, the area where you’re treated to a panoramic view of the massive aquarium and its majestic inhabitants (like Reef Manta Rays, Hammerhead Sharks and Giant Groupers) just floating peacefully in the deep blue in front of you. ‘Jaw dropping’ is not an unheard of reaction when you’re here.
It is in this area where they’ve set up Aqua Gastronomy. You’ll now find eight beautiful dining pods (as well as several dining tables) now set up here. Get to dine in the dome-shaped pods and be treated to a four-course meal ($118 each; or $98 for RWS members) that combines the best of sustainable dining with a theatrical showcase.
Each course is served in tandem with a light and sound display, and features creations by RWS’ famed culinary team. Divers will appear between courses too, to feed the marine life, pose for your Instagram shots, and to blow bubble kisses at you.
Cocktails and other drinks are available too
Part of the joy of dining here is the surprise, so we won’t spoil it for you, but expect each dish to be well thought through, with even the plating and sauce chemistry coming into play as part of the theatrical experience.
You’ll truly feel a sense of oceanic bliss when dining here. Watching the teeming aquarium is both calming and awe-inspiring at the same time. There’s just none other like this in Singapore.
Aqua Gastronomy is available through Oct 31, Fridays to Tuesdays, with two seatings (6-8pm or 8.30-10.30pm) each night. A minimum spend is required. Guests are advised to arrive 15mins early.
Oct 9 update: Aqua Gastronomy has opened up slots for November, available from Thursdays to Tuesdays.
