Artisanal patisserie Becasse opens first-ever full format restaurant in Dempsey Hill

From the folks that brought you gourmet market Jones the Grocer comes the group’s first-ever full format restaurant Becasse. Expanding from its casual spot at ION Orchard, the second outlet has a full seafood bar, heftier main courses and of course, a patisserie counter worthy of Marie Antoinette.

Housed in one of Dempsey’s colonial barracks, the monochromatic restaurant echoes an Old World European atmosphere that’s also reflected in classic French menu, which includes dishes like pan fried foie gras with dark chocolate ganache ($16), pear & Roquefort tarte tatin ($14) and moules mariniere ($28). That aside, their seafood bar is stocked with market catches like king prawns, oysters and Alaskan king crab legs.

Those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed with their spread of waffles and crepes (both $9) like Banoffee, mixed berry and lemon baked ricotta with strawberry, basil and lemon sorbet. While desserts (all $9) include sticky date pudding and chocolate fondant, their pattiserie showcase shines with over 15 different tarts and cakes like rhubarb & pistachio tart ($4.90) and strawberry mille-feuille ($6.90) and eight macaroon flavors at $2 each.
