Boat Quay bakery Madame Patisserie (#01-76, 76 Boat Quay, 6536-7028) is set to open on June 17.
The casual eatery will serve breakfast pastries such as croissants and cinnamon buns (from $4) as well as classic cakes including tiramisu and matcha azuki bean swiss rolls. There’ll also be afternoon tea offerings, plus wine (mostly unusual Portuguese bottles) and cake pairings in the evenings.
Drink-wise, they plan to serve tea by Ronnefeldt, Papa Palheta coffee and light fruity beers such as Jungle Beer’s Hula range.
Operations director and bakery founder Sherie Quek says, “I chose boat quay because there are a lot of tourists in the area and it’s not by the roadside, so there’s no noise from traffic.”
The cafe has a great view of the river and Quek—whose background is in hospitality and used to work at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore—plans to create a garden-like alfresco area, complete with a grass patch out front and green centrepieces on every table.
