In January, Chip Bee Gardens said goodbye to long-time Italian restaurant Michelangelo’s. But before we had time to grieve, the new Madrinaa Italiano took over the space in January to serve up more approachable fare like penne vodka, pork ribs and the decadent sounding penne foie gras. The two places are pretty much the same: it’s got the same vibe and similar dark color schemes, too.
In far more exciting news, local dining institution Coriander Leaf, which closed after many years on the scene, is back at a new location. This time, they’re trading Clarke Quay’s raucous scene for somewhere a little more low-key. The Asian restaurant is re-opening in the hallowed halls of CHIJMES, complete with a space for cooking studios and private dining. Although we’re still not sure of the exactly location, fret not as your beloved palak paneer and Valrhona chocolate cakes are safe after all.
