Duxton café Department of Caffeine now open serving Five Senses coffee, sandwiches and salads

Duxton café Department of Caffeine is now open serving coffee by Australian roaster Five Senses, plus simple sandwiches and salads.

The founder Andrew Lek is an alumnus from Kampong Bahru coffee specialist Strangers’ Reunion. Lek says, “Department of Caffeine pushes the edge of café culture in Singapore and yet still embodies simple honest principles, with great food and great coffee and tea. I also hope to feature different local specialty roasters every month.”

Coffees start at $4, and teas ($7) from local blenders Tea Bone Zen Mind are also available. To eat, there are bites like the mushroom sandwich with thyme and brie ($12) as well as fresh salads (from $9) such as beetroot with plum, and soba with wakame.

On weekends, there’s also a brunch menu including French toast stuffed with maple syrup bananas ($15).
