This year-end, eat your way around the Scandinavian countries and experience traditional Nordic cuisine and culture, all without leaving our sunny island.
From Dec 12-25, the Nordic embassies in collaboration with Try Swedish (an export programme which supports the global promotion and sales of Swedish F&B products) will bring the classic God Jul (Merry Christmas in Swedish) spirit to Singapore.
Get ready to discover classic Nordic-style festive dishes across five of Singapore’s F&B establishments—Atipico, Fung Kee Hotdogs, Huone, Leckerbaer and Lux—through dine-in or delivery. Each of the establishments will feature their own festive specials.
Atipico
Atipico offers a buffet of Swede Julbord favourites in a six-course take-home kit for two. Enjoy cold starters of herring and gravlax salmon, multigrain bread and Julskinka Swedish Christmas ham, followed by a hot course of classic Swedish meatballs. The festive menu is available for delivery only on Dec 10, 11, 17, 18, 22 and 23.
Fung Kee Hotdogs
Fung Kee Hotdogs’s special Christmas menu includes Gravlax Toast, Swedish Ham, Glogg (a festive Scandinavian mulled wine) and a range of Aquavit (a distilled spirit often termed the ‘water of life’ in Nordic countries). For those who prefer celebrating at home, the Home Party Bundle comes with 20 signature sausages and accoutrements.
For a more immersive experience, head to Huone, which means room in Finnish. This is an experiential events venue where diners are transported to the Nordics as they dine in either a Nordic birch forest or Igloo-themed room, inspired by Finland’s Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort.
A delectable Finnish home-style Christmas menu awaits, created in collaboration between chef Eric Mah and Finnish chef Risto Nietosjarvi. The three-course dinner set features Joululimppu, a spiced Christmas bread served with gravlax salmon and herring; and Piparkakku, gingerbread with plum mousse. It is available from Dec 12-23.
Pastry shop Leckerbaer has created eight special Christmas flavours of Smakager (traditional Danish butter cookies). Indulge in Milk (cacao and vanilla cream), Ruby Chocolate (blackberries), and Orange (salted caramel and sour sugar). Buy them individually or get a box of eight, 12 or 16.
Lux
Lux restaurant serves up Scandinavian dishes made in-house. Enjoy juicy Gourmet Swedish Meatballs doused in a rich cream sauce, and served with lush potato puree, lingonberries, and pickled cucumber; Toast Skagen; and Norwegian Cured Salmon with dill creamed potatoes. Reservations and orders for the Christmas specials can be made directly at each establishment from Dec 12-25.
Finally, those who prefer cooking their own meals at home can prepare fuss- free Nordic dishes with ingredients from the Try Swedish shop on RedMart. A whole range of Scandinavian products are now available such as Arla Herbs and Spices Cream Cheese, Wasa Original Rye Crispbread and Krisprolls Swedish Toast No Added Sugar.
