Fans of the famed Montreux Jazz Festival, which was last here in 2005, will rejoice knowing that it’s returning to Singapore with the Montreux Jazz Cafe. Opening at Pan Pacific Orchard, the 500-seater outfit is the first in Asia—the cafe has outlets in Abu Dhabi, Geneva, Montreux, Zurich and Paris.
Launched by festival founder Claude Nob, those who are unfamiliar to the cafe should expect live music and bistro fare set in a semi-casual and sophisticated space. Unsurprisingly, the menu features items named after famous jazz legends such as the B.B Burger, Coquelet Facon Quincy Jones and Ella’s Cheesecake. Live music performances will include a local and regional line-up, but it’s not all retro soul on show. Genres like rock, pop, hip-hop and world music will be thrown into the mix, too.
The cafe is opening in early October, after the 2016 Montreux Jazz Festival (Jul 1-16) ends its run at Late Geneva. More information can be found on Facebook.
