Hot stone tendon comes to Singapore for the first time

Shaw Centre’s Japanese food enclave has got a hot new arrival. One of the five dining establishments housed within Japan Foods Garden, restaurant Sizzling Hot Stone is bringing to Singapore its first-ever hot stone tendon ($11.80) to hungry Orchard Road shoppers. The dish consists of a crunchy prawn kakiage (tempura), topped with an onsen egg, on a hot stone bowl of al dente rice served piping hot. You’d think with all the hype over Japanese food and culture, this would already be a thing.

In addition, the restaurant is launching two healthy new soup pots—the Health & Beauty Salmon Pot (miso soup, Norwegian salmon, onions and mushrooms), and the Spicy Chicken Pot (tender chicken pieces and vegetables), to join the current offerings of hot stone rice bowls.

The food enclave sits in a corner of the Food Republic at Shaw Centre. Currently, other vendors include Fry Pan Shokudo for Korean-inspired tempura, Gyutetsu Teppanyaki for teppan-style dishes, Tsukiji Takewaka from Tokyo’s Tsukiji Fish Market; and Bar, which serves up innovative bar grub and alcoholic beverages respectively. It’s premium Japanese food offerings at affordable prices, so you really can’t go wrong.

Japan Foods Garden is located at #B1-01, Shaw Centre, 1 Scotts Road, and is open daily from 11am-10pm. More info here
