Italian restaurant Da Laura run by well known restaurateur Osvaldo Forlino’s (Ola Cocina Del Mar and No Menu) sister, Laura, is now open on Neil Road.
The two-floor establishment has a ground level bar, as well as a cozy dining room upstairs (a dimly lit and cozy area with heavy dark wood furnishings and an assortment of colorful rugs on the floor).
In the kitchen is chef Michele Blasi, who puts out items like tagliatelle bolognaise ($26), with a sauce made from hand chopped beef, and a signature snapper burger ($42), featuring fish sandwiched between two thin crackly slices of bread. Desserts include Cannoncini Numero 8 ($16 for 8), little cream horns, Italian almond granita ($12) and tiramisu ($14).
There’s also a good selection of Italian wines (from $14/glass, $65/bottle) arranged according to region (think Valle D’Aosta and Piedmont), with plenty of reds such as Nebbiolo, Barolo and Brunello.
