The love surrounding all things Japanese is as strong as ever. Joining the other newly opened Japanese imports like ANA’s gourmet food hall SORA, discount retail chain Don Don Donki, and fashion and lifestyle store Lumine, is confectionery giant Yoku Moku.
Founded in the ‘70s, the brand is inspired by founder Noriichi Fujinawa’s trip to the small town of Jokkmokk in northern Sweden—where he bonded with the locals over home-made treats. The genuine hospitality he experienced now feeds into Yoku Moku, in crafting delicious, handmade butter cookies.
The brand’s signature product is the Cigare—elegantly rolled cigarette-style cookies made with quality butter, egg white, sugar and flour; Fujinawa’s ideal cookie. You’ll find this and more at Yoku Moku’s two pop-up stores in town—the Christmas Fair in Takashimaya B2 (Dec 4-25), and ION Orchard Level 1 (Dec 1-30)—ahead of the official opening of the brand’s flagship store in ION, Jan 2018. While location and pricing details firm up, the beginning of December is a good time to head to town and sample Japan’s best confectionery.
