Long established in LA, Ko-Mex cuisine comes to Singapore

Ko-Tex-Mex tacos chain Vatos has launched its first branch outside of South Korea at South Beach Quarter, with classic Mexican bites with Southern Californian and (obviously) Korean twists.

Owners Juweon Jonathan Kim, Sid Kim and Kenny Park tapped into their roots growing up in the US (Juweon in Texas, and Kenny and Sid in Southern California) and the menu is bursting with these influences. Highlights of the signature Urban Tacos range include the galbi short rib, chili lime shrimp and the braised carnitas, which is slow-braised pork shoulder served with cilantro, chopped onions and hot sauce.

There are also other items like salads, burritos, quesadillas and starters like carnitas fries. We’ve been told that while diners can expect most of the items from their South Korean branches to be available here, they might not have the full range of burgers yet—so call ahead if that’s what you want.

On the drinks front, Vatos offers fun cocktails like frozen margaritas and the makgeolita, which is a mix of tequila and Korean rice wine.
