Latin American restaurant J’s now open on Purvis Street at City Hall

Latin American eatery J’s, helmed by managing director Joy Mahbubani, is now open on Purvis Street at City Hall.

The restaurant is named for the first letter of the proprietor’s name, and is a rebranded version of the now defunct El Toro Resto Bar at Winsland House. The space has two levels, and the second floor of the restaurant, called The Upper Room, is available for private booking for events.

Included in the menu are Latin American dishes such as burritos ($22 for chicken, $24 for beef) and enchiladas ($19) as well as modern European recipes like braised lamb shank ($32) and warm couscous salad ($14). The recipes come care of executive chef Darence Wee, who was previously with the Les Amis Group.
