Famed Danish confectionary Leckerbaer to open first overseas outlet in Singapore

Danish butter cookies (known colloquially in Denmark as småkager) are a treat we all grew up with. We often find them in blue round tins in an assortment of shapes and types, some topped with granulated sugar, others just plain and buttery and good.

Copenhagen’s Leckerbaer, known for taking the traditional confectionary to another level by adding creative twists to their bakes, has earned great renown for their inventiveness. And now, the famed patisserie is expanding outside of Denmark for the first time, and arriving where else but in sunny Singapore.

Opening July 23, 1pm at their downtown location in Isetan Scotts, the 36-seater space will be where you can get your hands on their exquisite cookies.

They will have a rotating menu of eight småkagers ($2.80 each) to choose from. The macaron-sized bakes come in flavours such as Raspberry, Caramel and Milk. But our favourite has got to be the Vanilla, that makes good use of calamansi to add just the right amount of tartness for balance.

Get them in boxes of eight ($22), 12 ($32) or 16 ($40) for a better deal. And rather than the tin packaging we’re used to, find them served in minimalistic royal blue boxes fit for gifting.

Leckerbaer offers more than cookies, of course. On their menu are a good selection of tarts and cakes ($7 each) that further shows off the pastry skills of founders Jakob and Gabi Mogensen. There are also savoury light bites like Quiche and Poached Egg & Salmon Tart ($13 each), as well as coffee and tea beverages (a latte is $6.50) to complete your meal.

Feel free to dine-in for the full experience, but given the current climate, Leckerbaer is also offering delivery services via their website (free delivery for orders above $100), as well as on all major third-party platforms from July 23.

Leckerbaer Singapore is located at #01-K2 & #01-K3 Shaw House Isetan Scotts.
