The dust has settled from the rousing (some say contentious) finale of the inaugural MasterChef Singapore. Whether you were Team Gen or Team Zan, the one thing we can all agree on is that both winner Zander Ng and runner-up Genevieve Lee are mighty chefs in their own right, showing Singaporean viewers the high culinary calibre of home cooks here.
So before the year is done, MasterChef Singapore judge Bjorn Shen is rallying them both to his restaurant Artichoke for a six-hands communal brunch where each of them will be whipping up three items to create a nine-dish sharing menu.
From Dec 29-30, Those Guys From That Show Cook Lunch sees items like an Ayam Penyet Smash Burger from Ng, who will undoubtedly be bringing his fusion skills to the table. Meanwhile, Shen’s brand of dudestronomy manifests in items like the Bread & Butter, where a Chinese pickle pancake is served with decadent whipped honey butter. And if you’ve always been impressed at Lee’s thoughtful approach to food, she’ll be making dishes like a Black Sesame soft serve with peanut and rice kueh, which is sounding like an elevated ode to muah chee.
In this kitchen collab on the last weekend of the year, the winner here is the diner. So make your reservations while you can (also to see if the Gender ship has sailed); seats are snapping up fast.
Those Guys From That Show Cook Lunch takes place Dec 29-30 with various time slots at Artichoke. Tickets at $68 available here.
