Singapore is no stranger to food parties, pop-ups and visiting chefs, and the coming weeks bring another slew of all, ranging from a rooftop party with a lot of local dishes, a huge meat festival, a pop-up seven course meal by a Michelin-starred restaurant and more, all to keep you occupied (and full).
Rooftop Revelry by Foodpanda (Sep 24)
Foodpanda is debuting its first rooftop party at the hipster rooftop bar, Lepark, this weekend. Expect lots of hawker fare and hipster delights by the likes of MeatLiquor, Chicken Up, Shiberty Bakes and many more. Also check out their kitsch handicrafts, clothes and artwork while rocking out to live local bands.
Polish Beer X Cider Garden (Sep 24)
Farm-to-table restaurant Open Farm Community is hosting its first-ever Polish Beer Garden, with plenty of brews like Perla and Cider Lubelski. On top of that, there’s Polish fare like grilled sausages and zapiekanka (an open-face sandwich).
A Culinary Tour of Spain : Madrid by Esquina (Sep 27-28)
Singapore’s Spanish tapas bar is on the fifth leg of its culinary tour of Spain and this time it’s todo sobre Madrid. Over two days, they’re doing a seven-course meal with wine pairings. Prepare for lots of chorizo sausage, Iberico ham and other bite-sized goodies.
Kilo Under Pressure by Kilo (Oct 6)
In this series at Kilo, home cooks take full control of the kitchen kitchen. Next in the line-up will be Brian Kennett, who has a remarkable resume, having written his own cookbook, whipping an eight-course meal for chairty and hosting a barebque for more than 50 guests.
Virgilio Martinez Pop-Up (Oct 25-29)
Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez runs Central, aka the fourth-best restaurant on the planet, according the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, and the Michelin-starred Lima. And you’ll get to try his food here in Singapore, at the Shangri-La’s Blu. For a sweet $448, you get a seven-course meal, including dishes like scallops with sea lettuce and coral and river fish with quinoa, each accompanied by a drink like the Capitan and fine South American wines.
The Great Meat Fest (Sep 28-Oct 22)
The Carvery is doing another meat fest, with beef offerings from all around the world, most notably Aomori rice beef from Japan and Cape Grim beef from Tasmania. There’s also roast chicken, pork knuckle and lamb. End the feast on a sweet note with their their spiced apple crumble, English trifle and chocolate fudge cake.
