A massively popular kushikatsu chain from Japan is making its Singapore debut, and bringing with it a range of popular street food eats. Kushikatsu Tanaka boasts over 160 outlets across Japan, and is better known for its Osaka-style, deep-fried cutlet skewers (or kushikatsu).

Its first Singapore outlet, located in Clarke Quay, will serve more than 30 variations of the golden kushikatsu—including uncommon options like cookies and cream, lotus root and asparagus—that you can pair with the restaurant’s signature dipping sauce.

But it’s not just kushikatsu on offer here. Japanese street food fans can also look forward to dishes like the Chiritori Hotpan, a sizzling hotpan dish of beef slices and beansprouts, served with curry powder, egg and rice; or DIY potato salad, where you can make your own creamy or chunky potato salad using Japanese mayonnaise, boiled eggs, fresh lettuce and bacon bits. And bound to be a hit is the DIY takoyaki—where you can customize the popular snack the way you like it with octopus and benishoga (preserved ginger).

As for drinks, Kushikatsu Tanaka stocks an impressive selection of 15 varieties of Jim Beam highballs, such as the triple berry highball, triple citrus highball and Aomori Ringo Highball (all from $6).
