Regent Singapore has recently launched a new bakery/café, Dolcetto by Basilico, a spin off their ever-popular Italian restaurant Basilico.
This artisanal Italian pastry shop and café offers a range of freshly-baked breads and pastries (made twice a day) including pesto and pine nut bread ($8) and Sicilian tomato focaccia ($8).
There’s also an indoor and alfresco seating area if you have time for a sit-down bite, with sandwiches such as squid ink panini with king crab and prawns ($13) and salads like tuna with fennel and asparagus ($13) or Burrata with Sicilian cherry tomatoes and rocket ($16).
In the mood for something sweet? Then try a bombolone (Italian donut; $4) with fillings including cioccolato (chocolate) or macarons ($2.25/piece; $12/box) in flavors such as strawberry and aged balsamic, Amedei chocolate and chili and a unique squid ink macaron with mascarpone cheese and smoked salmon. It’s also hard to go wrong with signatures like the Amalfi lemon tart (from $9) and ricotta cheesecake (from $9).
They also stock goods like olive oils and balsamic vinegars (from $32), as well as sweets and chocolates (from $6) from one of Italy’s oldest confectioneries, Pastiglie Leone.
