Avenue 87
Located within a two-storey conservation shophouse along Amoy Street, Avenue 87 offers innovative eats with a local twist thanks to inspiration drawn from the two chef-owners’ backgrounds and childhood in Singapore. Think dishes such as the AHK Seabass that’s a modern rendition of the typical hawker sliced fish soup and the Octopus which is a refreshing take on the Singaporean sambal stingray. Lunch and dinner sets are available Mondays through Fridays, with just dinner available on Saturdays. Also keep an eye out for the swanky upstairs lounge that will open early next year.
Catfish
Newly-opened Cure Concepts restaurant Catfish is ready to satisfy your cravings for sashimi. With options like the Sesame Prawn Toast, Uni, Caviar as well as the Hamachi Sashimi, Ponzu, Nashi Pear; trust the contemporary fish grill and raw bar to present the freshest catches in town. Don’t miss out on the cocktails either since many East meets West beverages are on the menu including the unique Lantern Fest that’s infused with Szechuan syrup and orange bitters.
Joy Luck Teahouse
If you still haven’t gotten a chance to taste the three famous culinary treasures of Hong kong which arrived at Ion Orchard last month, then perhaps a trip to Joy Luck Teahouse’s second branch at Bugis Junction will help. In addition to the egg tarts, pineapple buns and milk tea, try the sweet yet savoury Chee Cheong Fun that’s a new outlet exclusive.
Shake Shack Suntec City
American burger chain Shake Shack has finally unveiled its fourth location in Singapore at Suntec City, and with its opening comes a limited-time ShackMeister menu that lends a twist to the usual, all-time favourites. Enter the ShackMeister burger which offers a heaping pile of crisp, fried shallots resting atop a 100 percent Angus beef patty; as well as the ShackMeister Dog and ShackMeister Fries that provides that extra crunch too. An outlet-exclusive at Suntec City is the Matcha Made in Heaven, a delicious strawberry-matcha Concrete dessert. The ShackMeister Trio (burger, dog and fries) is available at all Shake Shack Singapore outlets from Oct 5-Nov 16.
Yun Nans
With many hailing Yun Nans as one of the best Chinese restaurant now available in Singapore, the opening of its third outlet at Nex is bound to cause a stir. The largest Yunan F&B chain in the world is offering a wide variety of new and exclusive dishes to celebrate its latest opening, so look forward to trying interesting creations such as the Crispy Duck with Dried Chillies, Poached Seabass in Spicy Pickled Vegetable Broth and Stir Fried Dragon Chives with Yunnan Beancurd Skin. But if you prefer sticking to good ol’ signatures like the warm and hearty Steam Pot Chicken Soup, you can still very much do so.
