New restaurant Corduroy Palace is a glamorous hideout serving impressive wines and indulgent eats

Few restaurants in Singapore are hedonistic and unapologetically opulent, but the all-new Corduroy Palace certainly does it with flair.

Helmed by the hospitality team behind the famous Lucali BYGB, the budding speakeasy-style concept located along Gemmill Lane is, first of all, not easy to find.

But once you discover the entrance at its sister pizza joint Proper Slice by BYGB, you’ll immediately enter a mid-century Midtown Manhattan-style dining room filled with quirky knick-knacks, comfy sofa booths and funky artworks.

So settle into a space as cosy as it is opulent—exactly like its name suggests—to be treated to classic eats like The Prime Rib, Chicken Cordon Bleu, oysters by the dozen and even crab claws served with wedges of lime. But leave it to the team of who’s who to combine xiao long bao with caviar, loaded baked potatoes with caviar and prepare appetising steak tartare tableside.

It would be remiss to avoid wines here, especially when the place that prides itself on its rows of wine coolers boasts some impressive finds. Simply consult any one of the restaurant’s well-trained wait staff to help you pick a solid option for the evening ahead.

If you’re more of a cocktail person, then go with classics delivered by none other than Head Bartender Nina Kong, formerly of Osteria BBR by Alain Ducasse, Sugarhall and Jigger & Pony.

In short, Corduroy Palace is the spot for late-night shenanigans, debauchery and a well-deserved night out. And we can’t help but love them for it.

Corduroy Palace is open at #01-02 110 Amoy St., Gemmill Ln. Reservations can be made here.
