This new restaurant lets you dine at shophouse-inspired eateries 25 storeys up

If you like your food exciting, take your local streetside dining 25 storeys above ground at Alley on 25, the newly opened Andaz Singapore’s all-day dining venue. Consisting of seven individual shophouse-inspired venues–one bar, one lounge and five restaurants—the culinary hub aims to literally elevate the experience and culture of Singapore’s single-product driven eateries.

Hence, each eatery has its own dedicated specialization. Icehaus is Alley on 25’s seafood and cold cuts concept, preparing sustainably sourced seafood (along with salads, sandwiches and local desserts) in a cold kitchen to evoke kitchens of a pre-electricity era. The Green Oven prepares classic international favorites like lamb, chicken and eggs in a giant green Beech oven. Smoke & Pepper is for the barbecue fans, offering mod-Asian barbecue in an elaborate show grill kitchen. Plancha’Lah, open only for dinner, serves up Japanese fare like Hokkaido scallops in truffle butter and Japanese Saga wagyu via dramatic culinary theater from an open hotplate (plancha). And providing the requisite local food is Auntie’s Wok and Steam, Alley on 25’s tribute to Singapore’s street-dining culture–or zi char.

Instead of a drinks stall a la hawker center norm, there’s Bar Square, which serves carefully crafted cocktails and spirits infused with local ingredients. The drinks go for $16 each, and signatures include quirky creations like the Irish Kopi C, an Irish whiskey cocktail inspired by our beloved Nanyang Coffee. Also available is an in-house craft brew, the Andaz Pale Ale ($8), made in collaboration with local microbrewery Red Dot Brewhouse. Go from 5-8pm and enjoy happy hour deals like a bucket of five beers at $25.

And finally, there’s the lounge Sunroom, open all day, where guests can retire to to enjoy the various dishes they’ve ordered from the five shophouse concepts. For the office crowd, special set lunches are available too, which include appetisers and main dishes for $25. All the restaurants follow a strong market-to-table philosophy, so expect only fresh, organic ingredients that were locally or regionally sourced. Looks like dining establishments these days are really upping their game.
