Calling all pho fans. There’s a brand new Vietnamese restaurant to check out in the form of NamNam Noodle Bar at Raffles City, courtesy of the Les Amis folks.
Helmed by owner, director and chef Nam Quoc Nguyen, Annam Vietnamese Cuisine‘s sister establishment threw open its doors just last week. A second outlet is due to launch by the end of November at Wheelock Place.
This casual 80-seater specializes in noodles from northern, southern and central Vietnam, offering items like flower crab noodle soup ($13.90), with an entire deep-fried soft shell crab, tofu and tomato, and dry yellow curry duck noodles ($8.90). The star is the pho, with chicken ($7.90), beef combination of beef balls, beef shank, tendon and tripe ($9.90) and Wagyu beef ($16.90).
There are also light starters such as fresh rolls with shrimp, egg and herbs ($4.90) and fried pork-prawn rolls ($4.90), as well as bánh mì (all sandwiches go for a mere $5.90) with ingredients including grilled chicken and chicken pâté, and five-spiced pork belly and pork pâté (our top pick).
They also do value-for-money sets for breakfast and lunch; good news for those working in the area. For lunch, just $9.90 (nett) gets you southern rolls, beef or chicken pho and coffee/tea (from 10am-3pm), while $5.90 (also nett) scores you a bánh mì and coffee/tea for brekkie (8-10am).
