There goes one great burger spot. De Burg, one of Singapore’s most popular hipster hawker stalls, has folded its operations at Alexandra Village. The last of its burger-flippin’ days was last Friday, May 16.
Citing issues with the landlord for its closure, owner Andrew Sim expresses his dismay about the development. “We’re rather sad to leave Alexandra Village, for the time spent there was really instrumental in building up our fan base,” says Sim.
But you don’t have to go scrambling for another gourmet burger joint just yet: De Burg is currently looking for a new home and Sim hopes to be back in action soon. Possible options they are considering include CT Hub along Kallang Bahru (which is where newish liquor kiosk The Papa Shop is located). “With the reopening, De Burg will no longer follow a self-collection concept. As we will have a full unit to ourselves, table service will be made available. Plus, we’re looking to offer a range of craft beer for drinks,” says Sim.
