Spanish churro brand from the Philippines Churreria La Lola is now open in Singapore

Singapore sure is a hotbed for foreign F&B chains to make their international debut. After the local launches of Chinese brands Nayuki and HeyTea, the latest chain to land here is Churreria La Lola, this time from the Philippines. A Spanish cafe concept that’s all about authentic churros, the brand was founded in the Philippines in Dec 2014. The newly opened space at The Central in Clarke Quay is its first international branch.

Inside, feast on the beloved Spanish treat in a variety of flavours, made from scratch in-house daily. There’s the original Clasico churros ($6.50 for three) served with chocolate dip (additional $3), as well as glazed variations in Dark, White, Matcha and Strawberry. For heartier options, there are stuffed Xuxos churros ($8) that come with a selection of fillings—nutella, dulce de leche, banana nutella, and even a Churro Ice Cream Sandwich ($8.30). Also part of the menu are select East-meets-West flavours and Singapore exclusives—like the Pork Floss Xuxo Churro ($8), a stuffed churro filled with garlic aioli and topped with pork floss. Sure, the flossy treat may have first originated from China, but we’ve overused it enough to claim it as distinctly Singaporean (thanks BreadTalk).

After all the churros, quench your thirst with drinks like iced coffees, an ice-blended Purple Yam Refresher ($6.50) that also comes with a classic churro; and the locally inspired Yakult iced tea ($6.50), exclusive to the Singapore outlet. The all-day cafe is already open for business, so feel free to pop in the next time you’re feeling like an upgrade from youtiao.

Churreria La Lola is located at #01-27, The Central, and is open from 11am-11pm daily. More information here.
