Spice up your morning cuppa with plant-based offerings by Aussie brand Milklab

Switch up your morning cup of joe by opting for plant-based milk. But instead of the usual soy, try oat milk from Australian brand Milklab. Touted as Australia’s most popular barista milk for coffee, Milklab Oat Milk is now available in Singapore through participating cafes and food service outlets.

The Milklab team had spent two years working with some of the world’s best coffee professionals to develop the oat milk to blend perfectly with espresso coffee.

The result is a rich and creamy alternative to dairy milk, versatile for use in both hot and cold beverages. In particular, it complements the nuanced notes of coffee for a comforting, silky mouthfeel.

A closer look at the ingredients reveals that Milklab Oat Milk is made with “Australian water, Australian Oat Flour (10%), Sunflower Oil, Acidity Regulators (Dipotassium Phosphate, Potassium Citrate), Salt, Vegetable Gums”.

Now, if you like luscious steamed milk with your coffee, you’ll probably reach for regular milk. Many baristas avoid plant-based milks because they do not steam or froth as well as dairy milk. Milklab Oat Milk has thus been created specifically so you get that velvety, fluffy milk foam that not just blends well with coffee but is perfect for latte art too.

There was no discernable difference when I tried my cappuccino with oat milk. It’s a good option, particularly for those who are lactose intolerant, but still want to enjoy the same smooth texture similar to full cream dairy.

Plus, oat milk is said to be the environmentally sustainable milk choice. The brand collaborates with environmentally sustainable Australian oat producers who use self-generated renewable energy on-site, contributing to environmentally responsible production processes.

At the moment, Milklab Oat Milk is only available via local distributors in Singapore.

Coffee enthusiasts can now redeem for a free upgrade to Milklab Oat Milk on their coffee purchase at any participating cafes. Visit the website here, scan the QR code and fill in the form.
