Do you know your daiginjos to your jyunmai daiginjos? Well, it’s time to test your sake skills at this year’s edition of the Sake Festival Singapore happening Aug 29.
Sake store and bar Orihara Shoten brings the festival back to showcase signature rice wine bottlings from some 37 brewers who will fly in from all parts of Japan. This year’s edition will feature over 150 bottles of the breweries’ signature sake, limited edition sake bottles, as well as umeshu, fruit liqueurs and shochu. Word of warning: most brewers are Japanese and speak limited English, but there will be translators on the floor, too.
Like last year’s edition, there’s a pop-up cocktail bar that will be shaking and stirring drinks using the spirit, just in case you fancy a change. There will also be Japanese finger food, stalls selling Japanese produce like vegetables, Japanese porcelain potters and even a live tuna-cutting station—specially for your maguro fix.
Tickets are on sale for $80 at Orihara Shoten and Sistic, and $100 on-site. They come with $40 worth of vouchers for purhcase on-site, a sake cup by Gifu potters and free flow Suntory draft beer.
