We all appreciate a good turkey and ham during Christmas and the holiday season. But if you are looking for something closer to home, these Japanese limited-time menus and dishes will give an Asian twist to your festive celebrations.
This restaurant’s ‘Festive Wonderland 2020’ menu features eight seasonal items such as the aptly named Festive Seafood Roll topped with fried prawn, sliced crab meat and a heap of house-made cheese wasabi flying fish roe; and Lake Saroma Wagyu Steak which showcases beautifully seared A5-grade beef. Other must-tries include Sashimi Moriwase ‘Komatsu’ 4 Kinds with salmon, sweet shrimp, swordfish and sudachi buri, and the classic Japanese treat Candied Sweet Potato.
For the first time, cocktails featuring House of Suntory whisky and gin are on offer. Enjoy Chita Highball and Hokkaido Hai cocktails with Chita grain whisky or Japanese Gin and Tonic, and Yuzu Splash with Roku gin.
Available from now till early 2021.
If you are not aware, many Japanese celebrate Christmas with KFC or fried chicken (as a result of the fast food chain’s marketing stunt in the 1970s). Modern izakaya Neon Pigeon continues the tradition by offering, not chicken, but Sukiyaki Fried Duck. Served with japanese corn bread, wafu-slaw and ‘potato salad’, it is meant for sharing with friends and family.
Available from Dec 21-31.
Weird and wonderful flavours arrive at the world’s first Michelin-starred ramen eatery, Tsuta. Utilising only the most premium ingredients, enjoy Tsuta Shoyu (specially created using Tsuta’s signature special Shoyu blend), Mugi Cha, Matcha & Cookies, Black Sesame, Cherry & Almond, and Okinawa Sea Salt & Brown Sugar.
