Celebrate SG50 with these drink deals in Singapore

With SG50 and the big National Day Parade around the corner, here’s where to celebrate with a tipple or two. And some of the places may even include views of the fireworks display on Aug 9, too.

Ce La Vi

The swanky club-lounge has a bunch of things happening over the National Day long weekend. First off, there’s a 50-minute free flow of house Champagne starting at noon, buckets of Tiger beer going for $50 and BBQ fare like chilli crab burgers and chicken satay burgers going for $18 a pop. There’s also a special National Day cocktail that’s none other than a twist of the SIngapore Sling going for $25 a glass. And do we even need to get started on the views? Aug 7-10.

If you’re in the mood to party the night away in a vertiginous club, you can do so at this 45th floor club. Not only will this Raffles Place building have views of the fireworks, but a bottle of Moet & Chandon bubbly is going for $69 after 10pm. Aug 9.

Gravity Bar

Carlton Hotel’s bar has a signature cocktail: Gravitate, made with with vodka, Malibu rum, Amaretto and lime juice going for $17 a glass ($11 during happy hour). There’s also a three-hour wine buffet ($60) happening every Monday to Saturday where you’ll get to choose from bottles of Oyster Bay sparkling and Pinot Noir. Beer lovers can also get a bucket of six beers for $50, and mix-and-match bottles of Heineken, Carlsberg, Asahi and Corona. Through Aug.

While drinking in a mall isn’t the sexiest thing to do for National Day, this tucked away bar makes great drinks. Chief Mixologist Yutaka Nakashima whips up eight Singapore-inspired cocktails like a prawn soup cocktail using prawn broth, a teh tarik cocktail with Earl Grey tea vodka and condensed milk, as well as an interesting chicken rice cocktail with chicken broth, chilli, ginger and sake. Cocktails hover around $20. Through Aug.

This Ann Siang Hill staple is shaking up their rendition of the Singapore Sling called the Sun Sling 50 made with gin, Benedictine DOM, triple sec, pineapple reduction, Angostura bitters and topped with a cherry herring, as well as charred pineapple. While it sounds like a mouthful, it’s also only going for $10. Through Aug.

The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill

Seafood aside, this Marina Bay restaurant is also shaking up a special Singapore Sling for the Jubilee. Plus, the second Singapore Sling is 50% off, so there’s no reason for you to stop at one. Aug 9.
